Blink*

Blink~~ Feb 20th 11:58pm I am working on a presentation, which has almost taken a week in its making an still isnt complete. Submission is on feb 21st morning 9 am, approximately just around 9 hours remaining before I stand infornt of around 50 other individuals of my like listening to me as I go on to explain ~ How a report is finally brought down in a newspaper~. Yeah thats my project to cover the whole process from start to finish of  how a report or news reported by a journalist finally makes it to the newspaper. The steps involved right from the scratch to the final execution. I chose my assistance to be a 160 year old granddaddy of all Indian Newspapers the Times Of India. So Times Of India let me tell you, is a tough nut to crack. And especially after the 26/11 attacks its got more cookies in its jar~~which means for a 19 year old like me its almost a herculean task to breach into its head quarters and gather information good enough to make my project presentable.
After almost a weeks phone calls and constant conversing with different voices behind a phone, we(as in my group, i wasnt alone on this project) finaly get entry to this highly secured buliding right opposite to one of the bussiest stations in the country CST. ~~ Blink.

Blink~~ an hour session of how everything goes * I would like to pause here for a moment-- you cant really enter the world of journalism without knowing how a piece of report is edited at TOI. The story comes in and it goes to the senior editor. He or she edits it on the computer and then calls in the writer to confirm it(for the visuals), then the piece goes to a second editor and he revises it with the writer again, then its forwarded to the facts checker -where every fact in the piece, every date, every title, every place or reussergance is checked and varified. Then the piece goes to a copy editor where it is scrutinized once again, then to the chief editor who puts in his own views and points, then production takes place, it goes through layout where every picture, template, borders comes into positioning-- then it goes back on paper, back to the wrtier, back to the copy editor, back to editor no.1 and editor no.2 back to the fact checker back to the writer and back to production again and during this whole process there are specials appointed who are reading and re- reading the peice looking for a red flag(anything inappropriate according to INS) once they are convinced the pages are put for order in printing and the article is published.
-* So yeah as i was saying inside TOI it was an hours session with the Bombay Times editor in chief Marc Manuel. ~~ Blink.

Vision..

I would like to call this one Clearity. This video was made by me(accompanied by a friend) for a Eye Donation Initiative. Well yeah we are very fortunate to have eyesight. I guess all of us should register ourselves for eye donation, but the instances  I went through in making this ad and the experience I had, it really gave me a new perspective -- to look at this world and the people in it. Indeed we are surrounded by illusions.

Luck By Chance!! Do give it a chance..!

Film: Luck By Chance
Starring: Farhan Akthar, Konkona Sen Sharma, Rishi Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan.
Director: Zoya Akthar
Producer: Farhan Akthar and Ritesh Sidhwanni

Released on the 30th of january 2009, it is the second mega budget film of the year after Chandni Chowk to China, which was a debacle at the box office(though I personally loved the movie) well to start with Luck By Chance it is a visual delight for most of us. I mentioned most of us and not all of us for the prime reason Luck By Chance is just a tad bit too long , which could have been managed by the director or the screenplay artist or the script writer, In this case all those three jobs are performed by Zoya Akthar. First lets congratulate Zoya Akthar on taking up a brave decision to sticking to a plot which was constructed 7 years ago, though the foundation was weak back then and virtualy no one agreed to play the lead role for the movie, still it was a plot ahead of its time. Disappointingly Bollywood at that time wasnt at par with such ideas, and actors even big guns hesitated and you can guess the rest - the movie was shelved. Bada bing Bada bang Bada Boom seven years later and the movie was made.Like they say the rest was history.
Well about the movie its a take on Indian film industry but with a lighter note. Unlike those Madhur Bhandarakar movies(page 3, Corporate , Fashion) which have such real dimensions to it, you kind of get bored and disturbed about it. Well according to the promos by now you guys must have guessed its a movie about Fahan Akthar , well no!! I personally think it is not. It has so many characters and sub plots in it, there isnt a protagonist of the movie , well for once the movie itslef is the protagonist as it holds all its characters and their stories together pretty well. Kudos to Zoya Akthar for making it so easy for the viewers. Farhan Akthar is a struggling aspirant , Konkona Sen Sharma is a small time actress (who has 3 bhojpuri movies in her C.V.) Hrithik Roshan is a Superstar in the making, Rishi Kapoor is brilliant as the producer with a wacko hair do, Juhi Chawla is mesmerizing as his wife. Sanjay Kapoor plays his eccentrik brother(being a failed actor turned director- more like the future of Uday Chopra) and then there are so many guest appearances , you lose the count by the end of it. But all of these guest stars hold themselves well in their alloted screen time and leave  a lasting memory until you walk out of the theatre. Shah Rukh Khan is pure class for his 5 mins role. Farhan Akthar finally proves Rock On!! as an actor wasnt a fluke and has lots of potential for commercial cinema, Konkona Sen proves yet again how exceptional she is with her work and finaly Kudos to Zoya Akthar for a wonderful debut and a even better movie for this season.

Curious case of David Beckham

Grass approximately 1 and a half inch long, ball 9 inch in its diameter, distance - edge of the penalty box to be precise 19.7 yards that would be 18.5 metres, hieght of the opposition wall - on an average from 5foot8" to 6foot 5". Location can be argued to be the red and black hell of football, the stadium of rosseneri - San Siro. A mistake at this level and the Italian papers along with the whole world the next day happily play cynic and criticise one of the finest in this art. The air is moist, probably with the sweat , its been a tiring game 33 minutes down and still no breakthrough and steps up arguably the most recognized face in footbal today to just prove how modest he is with his game. Goal being a mighty strech of 24feet that would be 7.32 meter(I am providing you with this just so you guys know what dimensions I am talking about), from an angle he is standing it becomes a lowly 2 meter gap between  the keeper and the upright. One glance at the net box again, a blurry vision of red and black cloud , a look at the mamoth sized supporters wearing their emotions on their sleeves. 20 years of professional football and a reputation of being one of the best in this situation, to be judged in the next coming second. A subtle movement, so elegant in its movement can be compared to a trained ballet dancer perfomers movement. A soft thud*being the adidas leather hitting the nike globe* and SCORE!!!.
David Beckham Scores a goal and the next few seconds are/is just noise of celebration. A man kept continuously under media survelliance and criticized for every left foot he takes, proves simply in his own style Action speaks louder than comments.
